User Comments on Titans: New Steam Chuff and Whistles

Posted on 5. June 2012

I think you have hit a home run with the steam sounds. The chuff is very typical and is very responsive to load (“sound of power”). When I first put it on the tracks I ran the loco (a brass pacific) by itself and it was a very quiet chuff. When I hooked the loco up to 6 Branch Line Heavy weight coaches I was surprised by the immediate increase in the chuff volume just from the weight of the 6 Branch Line Heavy weight coaches on level track. When we ran the train up grade (1.5% grade) it really kicked in. With CVs 51.12 and 51.13 giving you the options of setting minimum and maximum sounds of power so you can even fine tune it more for the needs of your railroad.

The steam whistles on the Titan are awesome. I had an operating session at my house last night and when I blew the whistle everyone stopped talking. One of the guys asked if all that noise was coming from the loco.

I’m anxious to see you folks release it. I hope the chuff sound will be available for Revolutions. I have several steam engines with Revolutions and would love to be able to replace the chuff sounds. I realize it will not be as dynamic as the Titan, but it will give the users more options
