Revolution-U Turbine for Athearn Veranda
Discontinued, replaced by Titan series of sound decoders.
The QSI Revolution-U is an easy PnP install into this popular giant. The Sound Set ID is 5050-481.
The highly anticipated "Veranda" turbine has arrived from Athearn. The loco, like its slab-sided predecessor the Standard Turbine, is aesthetically beautiful and runs nicely.

Unfortunately Athearn has not done anything to update any of the issues that were presented with their previous Standard Turbine offering. So the lights are still very dim and the pick-up is not what we'd call up to par. Fortunately we are acquiring a retrofit kit to update the lights with nice sunny white LEDs and simple wire connections.
The good news is that there is an easy to install sound option, the Quantum Revolution-U plugs right in to the underside of the loco circuit board and mounts as shown, topside.
The speaker options on the Veranda are different than the Standard Turbine. The Veranda has space for two 1.2" speakers which produce plenty of high quality sound. We recommend that you use two speakers.
It should be noted that the installation in the Veranda varies slightly when compared to the Standard Turbine. The Standard had enough room for the decoder to fit up between the body mounting posts behind the plug in board, due to the scooped sides the mounting posts had to be moved closer together making it impossible to fit the decoder between them. With the Veranda you'll want to flip the wiring harness over so that the tail end of the decoder is now pointing towards the front of the loco as you can see in the pictures.
